The Stanley Cup opens with
Red Kelly and
Ted Lindsay scoring goals 24 seconds apart.
Gordie Henry makes 37 saves, which speaks to how good
Boston actually was in this game. They end up taking 28 penalty minutes, to 4 by
Montreal. They still managed 38 shots!!
Montreal takes the game 4-1, but
Boston did great despite spending all game shorthanded. Game two sees
Montreal take 26 minutes in penalties, compared to 12 from
Boston. This game would need overtime though, and
Boston would tie the series with a goal from
Tod Sloan, on the power play. Through 2 games,
Boston is 1/11, while
Montreal is 2/12 on the PP. Special teams will decide the series.

Bruins and Habs during game 2.
Game three in
Boston is pretty much penalty free, which makes sense, after my last statement! The
Bruins jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first.
Doug Harvey scores on the PP.
Montreal is able to tie the game in the 2nd, but the
Bruins again took the lead on a
Marcel Pronovost goal. That lead stood, as the
Bruins win it 3-2. Game 4 features another one sided penalty box. The
Bruins spend 26 mins in the box, leading to 49 Montreal shots. The
Habs can’t get a PP goal, but spend 25 less minutes in the box for them to attack, and they edge it out 2-1.

Pronovost scores the game three winner!
The way I see it, Montreal seems to only win, and barely, when they hold a huge man advantage so far. The back and forth continues.
Montreal spends 29 minutes in the sin bin, while
Boston gets just 5 in game five. The
Bruins control the play because of it, and come out on top 4-2.
Doug Harvey is having a great series, and nets first star with 2 goals and an assist.

Harvey with two goals in game 5!
Game 6 is
Boston’s turn to take penalties, and they get 29 minutes, but they still jump out to the 1-0 lead on a
Tod Sloan goal.
Dean Prentice makes it 2-0, which stands until
Ted Lindsay cuts the lead to one with just 80 seconds remaining.
Montreal cannot tie it, and the
Bruins win 2-1.
Boston wins their 2nd Stanley Cup!
