1974 WORLD SERIES: GAME THREE
The Series shifts to the west coast and the Dodgers take a 2 games to one series lead with a 2-1 victory in Game Three. Andy Messersmith allowed just 5 hits over 7 and a third before giving way to Mike Marshall, who got the final five outs. Mel Stottlemyre pitched very well for the Yankees, but took the loss after allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.
Both Dodger runs came on rbi singles from Bill Russell, who drove in Willie Crawford with both scores. Russell and Crawford each had 2 hits. Craig Nettles singled in Bobby Murcer in the top of the fourth for New York's only run.
