League Expansion Bodes Well For Young Leagues
The uncertainty of the start of a new league has now survived a crucial first year. The league made a profit and now has the interest of other investors as the duel professional leagues look to grow. Now the league adds two new franchises to the mix.
Brooklyn is stubborn and instead of one new team will field two; one in each league. The Atlantics are joining the National League but it is the brand new Brooklyn Eckfords who will field a team in the American League. The club will look towards 52 year old Danny Patin, who is truly ancient among his peers and players.
The same formula seems to have been followed by another new team in Washington. It seems that having two baseball clubs in the same city could be a good thing. The new Nationals team have picked up Bill Lennon as the player manager from across town and a poised to challange the loyalty of the district even as the Olympics won the pennant last season.
Rosters are yet to be finanlized as well as a length of schedule but meetings leading up to March are sure to bring in more changes to the very young but growing leagues.
