2023 recap

The Mets won the World Series in five games against the Indians, but they were no match for the Ohtanis and were swept in the Shohei Ohtani Championship Series. That leaves the overall series standings at three for the Champions and three for the Ohtanis. Mets Ohtani was decidedly mediocre, with just 2.5 WAR total, but the team was led by a balanced rotation and had Clayton Kershaw on the mound.

Reds Ohtani won the NL MVP, with Giants Ohtani and Braves Ohtani finishing second and third. Reds Ohtani hit .336 with 35 home runs and 110 RBI, and was 13-2 with a 3.31 ERA on the mound; I believe this was probably the best Ohtani season yet. Royals Ohtani won the AL MVP, with a 14-4 record, 2.76 ERA, .303 average, 24 homers, and 78 RBI. Padres Ohtani won the NL Cy Young, going 20-8 with a 3.38 ERA and 217 K. A banner year for Ohtanis all around.

Yankees Ohtani, Cubs Ohtani and Rockies Ohtani all had three-homer games.

Cardinals Ohtani was inexplicably released at the beginning of the season by the Cardinals and went to play in Japan, with the Yomiuri Giants.
