A Good Test for the Manager AI is How it Handles Unusual Game Situations
I was playing my Twins against the Blue Jays. Toronto SP Aaron Sanchez was pulled in the 5th after giving up 9 runs. The Blue Jays manager then brought in RP Ryan Tepera, but he gave up 8 runs in 1.1 innings so the score was 17-4 Twins going into the bottom of the 7th. At that point in the game Toronto had 5 other RPs available in the bullpen, although all of them had pitched heavy innings in recent games. Consequently, the Blue Jays manager decided to have SS Aledmys Diaz pitch the 7th and OF Teoscar Hernandez pitch the 8th. The Twins scored 6 more off those guys (who had pitcher ratings of 20 across the board), but I was very impressed that the AI recognized in the 7th inning that the game was lost and chose to protect the other RPs from exhaustion or injury.
Nicely done OOTP!
