2039 - DBL League Championship

Chesapeake 2039 League Championship Champions:
Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better.

It was the latter case in 2039, as the Chesapeake Blue Crabs topped the Christiana Blue Hens 12-0 tonight at Blue Crabs Ballpark to win the League Championship. It was the 1st title in franchise history.

"When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Chesapeake starting pitcher Aaron McComb, who was named series MVP.

The Blue Crabs took the series 4-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the MarVa Conference Coastal Division and a 87-75 record.

Chesapeake manager Edgar Cancil grinned and nodded when asked to comment on McComb's words.

"Aaron said it best -- we played better than the other team," he said.

Hometown officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come.

Chesapeake Blue Crabs Win Fall Classic and Get Invited to the White House:
Besides winning the big game and all of the accolades that go along with it, the Chesapeake Blue Crabs also got a phone call from the President of the United States.

The call from the nation's commander-in-chief was part of an annual tradition to invite the winning club to visit the White House. When describing the call he received from POTUS, Blue Crabs manager Edgar Cancil seemed a bit flustered.

"He told us that he wants to meet the boys that won the Series and asked if we would come to the White House," Cancil said. "I told him, 'Hell yes...er- yes sir, Mr. President.'"

The date of the visit has not been announced.
