That's very strange, I'd like to have a look at the save if you can upload it (instructions here).

The WHA dispersal is semi-random - players on Birmingham/Cincinnati/Indianapolis who have NHL rights already assigned will belong to that NHL team. If they don't (as in the case of undrafted guys like Messier and Gretzky), they'll tend to go either to where to the ex-WHA team(s) that tended to wind up with most/the best of their teammates (e.g. Cincinnati to Quebec, Indianapolis to Edmonton), but there's also a chance they'll wind up getting their rights randomly assigned to one of Winnipeg/Quebec/Hartford/Edmonton.
