Terry Sawchuk and
Jim Henry dominate for the opening two periods. Both goalies have the game scoreless entering the third.
Sid Abel and
Bill Mosienko then score 49 seconds apart to give the
Bruins the lead. They would add a third goal late and win the opening game 3-0.
Milt Schmidt gets
Toronto’s first goal of the series short handed late in the first period. The
Bruins however battled back and led 3-2 after two periods.
Tim Horton scores on a point shot, and little known
Tony Licari scores 80 seconds later to give
Toronto the lead and eventually, the 4-3 win!

Henry gets the game one shutout!
In
Boston for game three,
Terry Sawchuk stops 25 shots, and
Tim Horton scores his 2nd goal of the series. The
Leafs win it 2-0, and take the lead in the series. Both goalies are again great in game 4. There is no scoring until the 3rd period, when the flood gates opened.
Boston grabbed the lead, only to see
Toronto score 2 goals in 2 minutes.
Bill Mosienko tied it for the
Bruins. That tie lasted 21 seconds, as
Gerry Couture gets his 7th playoff goal, the game winner, which gives the
Leafs the 3-2 win.

Sawchuk gets the game three shutout!
Couture gets his 8th in the opening period of game 5.
Paul Ronty nabs 2 assists and the
Leafs lead 2-1 after one.
Boston can’t get anything going in the 2nd.
Sid Smith adds to the
Toronto lead midway through the third, and
Jim Bedard puts the game away.
Toronto wins 4-1, and takes the series in 5 games!
