Offseason Update –December through Spring Training

Carl Conner finally has a new home. Last minute negotiations appear to have fallen through with the Caprica City Buccaneers, as Conner will be the new ace of the Kobol College Twins. Conner signed a 6 year, 80 million dollar deal. He slots directly into the top of a rotation that gave up more runs than just about everybody in the Premier League last season.

Manus Emery has also signed with a new club. The former Panther will stay in the Challenger League, as he signs a 1 year deal worth 10.7 million dollars with the Olympia Racers.

Dana Worcester will stay in the Premier League, signing a 2 year, 14.5 million dollar deal with the Reidi Drillers. The Drillers also signed closer Callum MacDougall as the expected closer, so it looks like Worcester will work from the middle of the bullpen.

Major off-season trades throughout the Colonial Leagues

The Landson Vipers traded catcher Raymond Hubbard to the Hadrian United. Hubbard hit .349 with 9 HR and 41 driven in last year. In return the Vipers get two prospects, 2B Dylan Malloch, who is expected to play at the big league level next season, and 2B Frank Brooks, who will most likely stay down in the Developmental League.

The Ionian Islanders traded with their cross town rivals, sending closer Dave Richardson to the Caprica City Buccaneers. Richardson recorded 18 saves for the Islanders last season, with 0.61 ERA, and 55 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched. In return, Caprica gives up two of their top prospects: Starter Dave Barron and shortstop Frank Masnfield. Barron was 10-4 last season with a 2.98 ERA, while Mansfield hit .293 with 31 driven in. Both men played exclusively in the Developmental League last season.

The long winter is over, at least in some parts of the colonies (sorry Aquarion), and it is time for pre-season training once again.
