I focus on trading for young, durable players who's potential has consistently risen. I sim a LOT, I might sometimes go through 30-60 seasons in a month. There is no better piece of advice I have than that one. Even with the smallest market in the league and the cheapest owner in the league, you'll make the playoffs 9 years out of 10 just trading for young, durable players who's potential has gone up. You're looking for players that were drafted out of high school in the later rounds and by age 20+ their potential has climbed above 60 and they've NEVER been injured (or if you have injury ratings turned on they're durable). As far as drafting goes? Drafting is a complete crap shoot, I just use my own drafted players to trade for the players I want. And the second a player's potential starts to drop? I drop them like a bad habit.
