The batter Fujimoto couldn't throw out went on to score a run, although he did still bag a no-hitter by retiring the next three hitters. The in-game paper naturally covered it with praise, but I can't imagine how humiliating that would feel.
To make matters worse, that would have been the league's first perfect game in 29 years of play. A hotshot Dominican named Danny Garcia got that honor instead just four days later.
