go to you GM screen.
on the control& auto play settings tab, the first drop down box (aafter "your role" line) will allow you to change to merely GM. Then you will need to hire a manager & an assistant GM. In the middle of the season, i'd promote the bench coach to manager, and move someone from the minors up to take that place.
You can only move someone into Assistant GM position. i never saw a way to hire someone off the street. So you may have to move your bench coach or new manager into that position, and hire someone else for the manager position.
it would be easier to do all of that at the end of the season, i believe. But not impossible to do mid-season. Good luck. Let us know how it goes ....
