In OOTP you can claim a player from waivers who has a major league contract with the intent of sending him to AAA by claiming him, and then turning around and putting him right back on waivers. If he is not claimed, you are free to place him in the minors (pending any roster restrictions or the right of refusal)

My question is: Can this actually be done in the MLB, or are there safe guards in place to prevent teams from doing this?
