Mike Johnson
Mike Johnson was the Pirates 11th round pick in 1979 out of Osseo HS in MN. He pitched for the Pirates from 1979-81 going 16-21 in 57 G with 54 GS and 321IP.
He pitched for the Mariners organization from 1982 until the end of his career in 1985. In 1982, for Wausau, he was 9-7 with a 5.01 E.R.A in 30 G with 17 GS striking out 103 in 106 IP. He went to Bakersfield in 1983 and was 2-7 with a 2.54 E.R.A in the hitting friendly league saving 9 games and striking out 97 in 67 IP.
1984 saw him in AA Chattanooga working mostly out of the pen (39 G, 7 GS) with a 8-3 record and a 3.62 E.R.A while seeing his command take a dramatic dip as he struck out only 43 and walked 56 in 70 IP. *To me this is usually a good sign that there is some kind of injury
In 1985 he pitched for the AA team again (6 G) but saw most of his work back in A ball at Salinas going 8-5 with a 5.47 E.R.A over 22 G with 10 GS ands a 54/58 K/BB ratio in 79 IP.
He was done after that....and finished with a 43-44 record in 203 G with 14 SV and a 474/422 K/BB ratio over 650 IP.
