The Rangers end the road trip and the season against Al East opponents with three games in Baltimore against the AL East leading Orioles. The Orioles lead the East by 15.5 games. Baltimore has won 4 in a row. The Orioles lead the league in stolen bases, runs against and bullpen ERA. Baltimore is second in the league in runs scored, batting average, OBP, starters ERA and defense efficiency. The Orioles lead the season series 7-2. The loss in the second game of the double header in Cleveland yesterday officially eliminated the Rangers from the post season in 1973.

Harrah hit a two out single with a man on second in the top of the first to extend his hit streak to 19 games but Nelson was thrown out at home on the play by Blair.

The bottom of the second began with Rogers striking out Johnson for his 100th K of the season.

Burroughs led off the top of the fourth with a home run.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Orioles had a runner on first with one out and the Rangers went to the bullpen and Paul Lindblad replaced Rogers on the mound. And he kept the score tied going into the ninth innning.

Biittner led off the top of the ninth with a single and Bob Reynolds replaced May on the mound for the Orioles. And the game was still tied headed into the bottom of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Orioles got a lead off single from Grich but Powell hit into the 4-6-3 double play.

After nine: Texas 1 Baltimore 1.

The Orioles got two men on in the bottom of the tenth but Holt grounded to first to end the inning.

Grant Jackson took the mound for the Orioles in the top of the eleventh. The Rangers had runners at second and third but Burroughs grounded to second to retire the side.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eleventh. And the Orioles went three up three down.

In the bottom of the twelfth, the Orioles had runners at second and third but Chico Salmon grounded to second to end the inning.

Randy Jones took the mound for the Orioles in the top of the thirteenth. And the Rangers went three up three down.

In the bottom of the thirteenth, the Orioles had a runner on second and two out and Jim Panther replaced Pina on the mound for the Rangers. Powell walked and then Blair hit a walk off RBI single.

Final score: Baltimore 2 Texas 1 13 innings.
