1936 NHL Playoffs
Round 1
Des Smith is the overtime hero for the
Rangers, scoring 8 minutes into the first extra frame to eliminate the
Leafs.
Smith had 8 goals in 123 games, all which I assume weren’t as big as this one. The
Americans manage to edge the
Bruins in a very tight game three to set up another battle of
New York.
Round 2
King Clancy scored the game one overtime winner, and
Detroit won game 3 and 4 on the road to eliminate the
Habs and go back to their third straight Cup final.
The
Rangers improve to 5-0 in the playoffs with a dominating 3 game sweep of the
Americans.
Lorne Chabot has absolutely found a second life in
New York. He allows just two goals in the 2nd round win.
