I suggest you go to the Baseball-Reference website, find the 162 game career average for each player, then select the year that is the closest to his career averages. Otherwise, you may import an off year, bad year, or best year of his career.

This is what I did and it saved me some editing time when I revised the Lahman Database ratings.
