Auto-Calcing the League Totals

I've been playing my MLB world sim for a while now. It's December of 2022 and I'm getting ready for the winter meetings. I noticed during my most recent season though that some of the numbers seemed a bit wacky at the all-star break.

Two different guys were on pace to hit 85+ home runs and have 160+ rbi's. I kept an eye on them and they both came back down to earth...kind of...
Both finished with over 63 home runs (1 guy did it in ~130 games) and both were well over 150 rbi's.

I thought "Alright, not too bad...just two monster years that happened to coincide. No big deal, right?" Well then I got to awards season and expected big things for Seth Beer of my Chicago White Sox. We went to the world series and he dominated for most of the season finishing at .292/41/134 with an OPS of .906. He also absolutely raked in the post-season. But the awards came down and Beer got nothing! Nada, zip, zilch. Looking at the award winners was pretty crazy.

Bunch of guys OPS'ing over 1.050 with 50+ jacks and 130+ rbi's. I could honestly say that Beer didn't come close to their numbers so the awards made sense. But he wasn't even close! I guess I concentrated so much on the two guys who were on pace to shatter the home run records that I didn't notice everyone was hitting 40+ bombs.

So I'm guessing my league totals need some refining. I've never touched that screen before so I'm guessing I should just make small changes. I've been told that hitting the auto-calc button on the day just before opening day is the best time to do it. Is that right? Shouldn't I wait until opening day itself so all of the teams are down to their 25-man rosters? Also, should I do something besides just clicking that button?

Thanks in advance.
