2038 September in Review

Players of the Month - September 2038

Delaware Conference

Coates Takes DE Conf's Best Bat Trophy: Patrick Coates made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Delaware Conference this past month. The Milford Clippers second baseman shined through the month of September and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old hit .389 with 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and 20 runs scored. This season Coates is batting .383 with 39 home runs. He has scored 126 runs and driven in 121.

Sixteens Starter Named September's Premier Pitcher: Veteran Ernie Kennedy put together quite a successful stretch in September for the Georgetown Sixteens, earning himself the Delaware Conference Pitcher of the Month award. Kennedy racked up a 4-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 1.86 ERA over 38.2 innings and striking out 33. To date this season, Kennedy has registered 17 starts, 8-3 won-lost mark, 2.23 ERA, 109 IP, 91 strikeouts and 22 walks. Opposing teams have hit .218 against him.

DE Conf Selects Rookie Star of the Month: Youngster Clemente Lucarelli emerged as the latest Delaware Conference Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Newark deserved the honor, batting .361 with 4 home runs and 18 RBI. Is the month of September a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Lucarelli enjoy the limelight. For the season Lucarelli is batting .331 with 200 hits and 15 home runs. He has scored 73 times and batted in 77.

MarVa Conference
Gette Wins Best Bat Award in September: Martinsburg Mountaineers fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in September. Ulbrecht Gette put up a remarkable month at the age of 22 and has been named the MarVa Conference Batter of the Month. For the month, Gette hit .391 with 8 home runs, 32 RBIs and 23 runs scored. This year Gette is hitting .327 with 30 home runs.

Barons Hernández Chosen September's Best in MV Conf: José Hernández has made fans throughout DELMARVA Baseball League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 5-0 record. No pitcher in the MarVa Conference threw better in September, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today. In 6 starts Hernández compiled a 1.80 ERA, putting up a 5-0 record, striking out 58 and tossing 50 innings. Over the season Hernández has thrown 252.2 innings and dished out 276 strikeouts with a 19-10 mark and a 2.99 ERA.

MarVa Conference Names Rookie of Month: Manuel Vázquez is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest MarVa Conference Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In September the King George hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .333 average with 31 hits, 7 home runs and 26 RBIs. Vázquez has a .294 average and a .336 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 135 hits, 26 home runs and driven in 83 runs.
