there are threads about this with more info. not sure if their ratio is correct or not, but there is a rule of thumb out there. i won't misquote it by memory.
simply: how long the rehab stint is contingent on how long they were on the DL or offseason.. even a FA off an active roster for too long is the same deal.
maybe personality has an effect? never tried to look into it, but there may be some layers of sophistication involved in the calculation beyond simply # of days, but that's the bulk that is affected by those smaller, possible things.
