If the MLBPA thought for a moment a player was optioned to the minors to avoid putting him on the major league DL, you can bet they'd file a grievance immediately.

Considering the 10-day requirement has been on the rule books in real life since the mid-1950s, I'd say OOTP is well past time recreating it.
