Montreal is at home to the Washington Capitals (25-15-3). The Capitals won the only meeting this season 2-1 at the Bell Center. The Canadiens will start G Martin King.


Montreal grabs the early 1-0 lead as RD Steven Thornton goes 5-hole after converting a C Jeff Pilbeam feed at 4:37 of the 1st on the PP. The Capitals answer back quickly as RW Jude Jordan tips his 10th of the year past G Martin King at 5:39 and its 1-1. Washington goes up 2-1 as LW Jude Jordan gets his 2nd of the night and 11th of the year with another tip in at 17:02. Montreal ties it up 2-2 as LD Dominick Heatherington beats the Caps goalie down low with his 2nd of the year at 18:01. That is how the period ends with the shots 10-8 for Montreal.


Montreal goes up 3-2 on a scrambled play in which RW Zach Broderick swats at a loose puck and scores his 3rd of the year at 16:21 of the 2nd. After 17 minutes of the 2nd, Montreal is in control of the play out shooting the Capitals 12-5 in the period. The period ends with the Montreal 3-2 lead and shot lead of 23-14.


The score is still 3-2 but Montreal is in full control 6 minutes into the 3rd with a 7-0 shot lead. There is no scoring in the 3rd period and Montreal hangs on to win outshooting the Capitals 32-18

Montreal's RD Steven Thornton was the 1st star with his goal and assist. The 32 year old now has 8 goals and 26 points with 33 PIMs and a +18 rating in 45 games. Last season Thornton had 6 goals and 33 points in 67 games for Montreal.


Nashville Predators LD Sergey Adaikin had an assist in a 3-3 tie with the Canucks. The 29 year old now has 5 goals and 24 points with 6 PIMs and a +24 rating in 45 games. Last year Adaikin had 8 goals and 37 points in 72 games with Nashville.
