Wikipedia Oldest Livng Players List history
It is Whitey Ford's 89th birthday today and Ford is ranked #100 on the Wikipedia oldest living major leaguers list. For the first time since Wikipedia started its list all players in the top 100 in age are at least 89 years old. #101 - Bob Ross - (1950 & 1951 Washington Senators and 1956 Philadelphia Phillies) is 12 days away from his 89th birthday on November 2. 77 players are now at least 90 years old with Jim Greengrass about to turn 90 in three days (Oct. 24). That's a near-record as one time last year there was for a brief period of time where 80 players were 90 years old or more (still the record) while at the same time 99 players were at least 89 (the previous record, just broken).
