Complete Challenger League Coverage Weeks 9 and 10
Field holding steady with Panthers
The Pailyn Panthers continue to hold the top spot in the table, but the rest of the field has narrowed thir lead to just two games. Over the last ten games, no team in spots 2-6 has a worse record than 7-3. The Vice and SIlverstars are only 3 games out of this wildcard tie, but they’ll have to find some magic if they want to keep the top of the table from running away from them.
Kowal Dealt by Legion
The Delphi Legion have traded star 3rd baseman/Shortstop Chris Kowal to the Hedon Lions. In return, the Legion get 24 year old minor leaguer Randy Hernandez, and about 7 million dollars worth of salary they won’t have to pay Kowal. Kowal is a four time all star who succumbed to injury last season, and as of yet seems to have not regained his previous form. The infielder is hitting .252 this year with just 5 home runs.
New hitting streak mark
With this being the first year of the Colonial Challenger league, all of the league’s records will be set for the first time this year. However, Weston Edison of the Kyros Storm just set one that may stand for a while. The Shortstop, known more for his glove than his bat, just lost his hitting streak at 30 games. The Boskirk Brewers managed to finally stifle his hot bat with an 0-4 outing in the last game of their series. For reference, the longest hitting streak in Premier League history is 32 games.
Game of the Week
In the battle for the wildcard, the Tawa Archers take on the Argentum Silverstars. This is a really important series for the Silverstars, because if they want to keep pace with the rest of the wildcard teams, they need to hope for a series split at worst.
