in settings, search manual for exact location, you can set it so the minors use 'potential' to set starting lineups.

this will alleviate a good chunk of the problem... sometomes the golden oldy's potential doesn't drop, this would be the times it would not help... also initially when they fall to that mlb/aaa borderline usage, shortly after their pot typically falls to their current ability.

also, some people regularly use a View or filter etc to lop off those types of players (delete, retire, whatever)

i typically see 4-5 30+ per team and i only use the "potential" setting as stated above. i'm sure pockets of elevated #'s can exist in my leagues, though. alot of the 30-sometigns in my case are actually career mil players. my mil system isn't strapped for players at higher levels, either. leads to...

other thing to look into -- producing enough players/year to keep system full? too often i read in forums someone not liking 35-40+ in their lower leagues... you need it! you need 2x rookie/short a as A-ball. you need roughly 1.5x-or-2x players in A-ball to fill 1 AA-ball... then 1aaa:1aa is fine at least with "1" aaa in use... maybe with 2AAA or 3aaa you need 3or4 aa - i've never had more than 1 AAA league per ML. if they are in need, they will continue to sign these types of older players for AAA.

regardless, a player should develop nearly as well at AA as AAA (not saying it's spilt milk, just not catastrophic). i have had prospects skip AAA before for sure and always willing to do so if the ratings warrant it. it's still best to move the guys to AAA that are a bit too good for AA, i believe. i have seen guys develop in Rookie league to a .300/xxx/.500+ slash before... so, i'm not certain of the severity of the drawback. i'd dobule check manual that "stagnation" in teh minors is a real thing and not some group think from teh forums that people like myself may have propogated.
