Bulls Sweep League Leading Miners
Catapulting themselves into the discussion at the top of the table, the Tauron City Bulls pulled off a huge sweep of the Promethea Miners in week 8. The Bulls traveled to Aerilon off a lacklust split with the Luminere Reds, but after two impressive wins on the road, they completed the sweep in dominating fashion back in Tauron City. The Bulls outscored the Miners 35-14 over the series. With the last place Ersia Elephants next on the schedule, this might be the time for the Bulls to really solidify themselves as contenders.
Miners stay atop the leaderboard (again)
Despite being swept by the Bulls on splitting the home games with the Fateau Blaze the week before, the Miners are still a game up on both the Drillers and the Bulls. The Drillers went 4-4 over the last two weeks, splitting series with both the Vipers and the United. The record is good enough to hold on to a share of the 2nd qualification spot, alongside the Tauron City Bulls.
Free Agent Watch
We may only be a third of the way through the season, but some players who are expected to hit free agency at the end of the year are already striking out and trying to impress potential suiters. That’s exactly what Tauron City’s Vasil de Brouwer did this week. In the 4 game sweep of the Miners, the Bulls shortstop recorded 10 hits in 17 Abs, with 2 homers, 11 RBIs and 6 runs scored. De Brouwer is hitting .316 on the season with 21 RBIs. The one time all-star is looking to make a big splash in free agency this off-season.
Relegation Watch
The Luminere Reds have managed to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, thanks in large part to the Landson Vipers going an abysmal 2-8 over their last 10. Still, the gap between relegation and safety is only one game. The Ersia Elephants continue to inhabit the second relegation seat.
Matchup of the Week results
The Itar Aces managed to take 3 out of 4 from the Kobol College Twins. Roger Baskeyfield threw an 8 inning 6 hit shutout in the lone win for the Twins. Mario Perez improved his record to 6-2 in the series finale for the Aces. The lefty hurler has turned things around since being signed as a free agent by the Aces. Perez had a disastrous 0-6 season with Spatiu Gol last season, his rookie year.
This week’s matchup of the week
The Promethea Miners will look to snap out of their losing streak as they take on the Hadrian United. The United currently sit 4th in the table, just a game out of 2nd place and two games off of the top.
