I'm a hybrid but mostly sim for all the reasons already posted. The GM\Owner\Field Manager hat is one I like to wear. I play select games in season and every playoff game.I'm not the best game manager. I tend to let SP go to long and I've been known to run too much.
The GM experience in OOTP is outstanding. I enjoy the offseason almost as much as the games whether played or simmed.
