The best team in the American League is in the Lone Star State! For two days. The Royals visit Texas. Kansas City's loss in the second game of the double header yesterday ended an 8 game winning streak. The Royals lead the league in runs scored, batting average and OBP. Only one team has hit more home runs than Kansas City and only two teams have more stolen bases. However, only one team in the league has a worse defensive efficiency. The two teams met in Kansas City in early April and the Royals swept the three game series.

Overall Advantage Kansas City

The first run of the game was unearned as the Royals cashed in a throwing error with a Mayberry RBI single in the top of the first.

Burroughs singled in the bottom of the first to extend his hit streak to 11 games.

After three: Kansas City 1 Texas 0.

Oliver led off the top of the fourth with a home run. With a runner on first and two out, the Rangers went to the bullpen real early and brought in Danny Fife.

After six: Kansas City 2 Texas 0.

Fife brought his ERA from above 7.0 to below 4.0 but left the game with one out in the top of the eighth after injuring his elbow. Mike Garman took the mound for the Rangers in his place.

Howard has been abysmal with a .133 batting average but he led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run to prevent the shutout. But that would be all the Rangers would get.

Final score: Kansas City 2 Texas 1.
