J. C. Seagraves was the starting center fielder for the 1937 Indianapolis Athletics. This photo is from the Indianapolis News of May 7, 1937.

The newspaper spelled his surname as Seagraves. So did the Negro Baseball Register within THE NEGRO LEAGUES BOOK, by Dick Clark and Larry Lester. But the seamheads.com website gives a spelling of Segraves.
