2037 MVP Award Winners
Top Player Named by Delaware Conference
Naoaki Okubo has been around DELMARVA Baseball League enough to know a good hot streak when he sees one -- and he got to see one firsthand all year. For his standout run through the 2037 season, he's taking home the Most Valuable Player Award in the Delaware Conference.
The Georgetown first baseman put up a batting average of .316 with 25 doubles, no triples, 43 home runs and 123 RBIs.
Patrick Coates of the Milford Clippers finished second in voting, while Marvin Garrett of the Lewes Braves finished third.
MV Conf Most Valuable Player Award Goes To Hidalgo
What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2037 Most Valuable Player Award in the MarVa Conference. It had already been a very special season for Washington's Ricardo Hidalgo, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.
All season long Ricardo Hidalgo gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .321 as he collected 180 hits, 32 doubles, 1 triple, 62 home runs and 157 RBIs.
Tyrone Jackson of the Martinsburg Mountaineers finished second in voting, while Alonso Sierra of the Annapolis Admirals finished third.
--------
The 39-year-old Hidalgo had an amazing season hitting 62 HR's, and winning his 5th MVP Award. After 2 sub-par seasons many, including me, thought his career was done. I am happy to him succeed during this season. His 700th HR might be one of the biggest things to happen in the DBL.
I wonder if he has anything left... It had been a while since he played in a full season. He has been around since 2018 when he was a 21-year-old rookie in Christiana...
One thing that does surprise me is he still needs 306 hits for 3000, a milestone that is most likely out of touch.
For Okubo it is his second MVP award in a row. He missed out on the triple crown again, coming in 2nd in HR's for the second time. Maybe next year will be his year...
