Is this setup possible as a fictional league?
So, I had in mind a baseball world based on an alternate history.
It starts similarly to the way MLB started, two leagues each with a champion that end up playing in a world championship. I want to expand slowly, with an ending format of:
The original 'MLB' having 16 teams. League 1 and League 2 with 8 teams each.
Another North American League comprised of 4 Canadian teams, 4 northern Native American teams, 4 southern Native American teams, and 4 South/Latin America teams.
The two leagues in MLB won't play each other at all during the year. The North American League's teams will play each other similarly to the current setup of inter league games. No teams from MLB and the NAL will play each other during the year. Champions from MLB and NAL will play each other.
Along the way however, I would like the Native American teams to be part of their own isolated league for a bit, and then grow to add in the Canadian and South/Latin American teams. A final element would be to really restrict player movement between the two major 'leagues', and also between the Native American teams and other teams.
How much of the above is doable using the standard fictional universe tools? And how much could be done using more advanced tools available? I can always work out something simpler but I wanted to see what was possible first!
Thanks..
