The Rangers next Spring Training opponent was the Red Sox.
Rich Hand got the start. In 4 innings, he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1.
Jan Dukes pitched 3.1 innings, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 1.
Jim Shellenback struck out 1 in the 0.2 inning that he pitched.
Bill Gogolewski, now in the closer's role, pitched 2 scoreless innings, gave up 2 hits and walk 2.
Paul Lindblad pitched a perfect 11th inning.
Jim Driscoll got an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Rangers their first win in Spring Training 4-3.
Bucky Dent went 2 for 3. Jim Mason had a double and Elliott Maddox had a triple.
Boston rookie George Brett went 0 for 3.
