It's doable. The Phillies have a very young team but if you look at analytics and make the right calls even they can get hot and win it. We know how bad the Giants are this year due to a combination of injuries and poor play, in OOTP18 before the patch I had a save where the Giants won the World Series 2 years in a row in 2018 and 2019.
I rarely look at "ratings" all ratings tell you is on a scale where they are in comparison to other players but that doesn't necessarily mean they will be good. If you look at stats, particularly stats that are contextual like FIP or ISO you'll be able to look at the more traditional stats and understand if the player is good or not and then develop a model for your team.
