The pitching staff took a blow today when we learned Wiley Dunham was done for the year.
We knew he was probably going to be out, but the doctors wanted to give it a couple days to let swelling subside before confirming he tore his labrum the other day.
Wiley is only 25, so he's a strong, young kid who has plenty of time to recover and bounce back. We'll miss him though. In 12 innings out of the bullpen, the kid has struck out 12 while only giving up seven hits and three walks. He's 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in nine appearances.
I'm calling up Shane Bowers to take his place. Bowers, 25, was pitching pretty well in AAA, and should do a fine job in the bullpen.
