Players of the Month - August 2037
Delaware Conference
Seaford Left Fielder DE Conf's Best Batter in August: Seaford Blue Jays fans believe they've got a talented young star in Howard Gray. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in August, as he hit .366 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 21 runs scored. The end result was the left fielder being named the Delaware Conference Batter of the Month. On the year Gray has hit .317 with 28 home runs, 96 RBIs and scored 79 runs.
Pitcher of the Month Named in DE Conf: John Smith hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Delaware Conference Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice. In August the Seaford starter earned a 6-0 mark in 6 starts. He threw 44.1 innings, struck out 38 and compiled a solid 1.02 ERA. To date Smith is 17-6 in 27 starts with a 1.74 ERA and has 175 strikeouts in 197 innings.
DE Conf Selects Rookie Star of the Month: Jorge Muñóz is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Delaware Conference Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In August the New Castle hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .350 average with 35 hits, 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. This year Muñóz is batting .281 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs.
MarVa Conference
MV Conf Honors Jackson, Best Hitter in August: Tyrone Jackson may be much younger than other hitters in the MarVa Conference, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in August to win the Batter of the Month award. The 22-year-old Martinsburg center fielder hit .374 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and 33 runs scored. Jackson on the season is batting .348 with 37 home runs. His totals include 103 RBIs and 111 runs scored. He has played in 121 games.
MV Conf's Top Starter is Doyle: Eric Doyle has made fans throughout DELMARVA Baseball League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 6-0 record. No pitcher in the MarVa Conference threw better in August, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today. In 6 starts Doyle compiled a 0.83 ERA, putting up a 6-0 record, striking out 22 and tossing 43.1 innings. This year Doyle has 10 wins and 9 losses and a 3.80 ERA.
MarVa Conference Names Rookie of Month: Ulbrecht Gette earned August's Rookie of the Month honors in the MarVa Conference for last month's performance. The boyish Martinsburg right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Gette hit .327 with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. In his 2037 season totals, Gette has 12 home runs, .302 BA, .383 OBP, 70 RBIs and 58 runs scored.
