In the top of the second, Maddox threw Aparicio out at home as the Boston base runner tried to score from second on a single by Montgomery. This robbed Montgomery from what would have been his first RBI of the season.

The Red Sox got a leadoff single in the top of the eleventh from Griffin and that led to Horacio Pina replacing Bosman on the mound. A 4-6-3 ended Boston's half of the inning and there was still no score.
The Rangers got a man on first with one out in the bottom of the eleventh and Boston went to the bullpen and brought out Bobby Bolin. A double play lineout ended the inning.
The Red Sox loaded the bases with two out in the top of the twelfth. But Griffin grounded out to retire the side.
Roger Moret took the mound for Boston in the bottom of the twelfth. The Rangers loaded the bases with one out. And again failed to score.
Paul Lindblad came in to pitch in the thirteenth inning. He began the inning by striking out Smith for his 30th K of the season.
In the bottom of the thirteenth, Nelson finally sent us home with a 2-run walk off home run.
