Howard led off the second by becoming Woodson's 80th strikeout victim of the season.

Broberg walked the leadoff man in the bottom of the fifth and then left the game with a leg injury. Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers. Borgmann brought in the game's first run with an RBI groundout.
The Twins loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the sixth. Cox then walked Darwin to bring home a run. Brye followed with a 2-run single. Cox finally ended the inning by striking out Holt but then he, too, left the game with a leg injury.
After six: Minnesota 4 Texas 0.
Mike Garman took the mound for the Rangers in the seventh.
The Twins loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the eighth. Borgmann added another run with a sacrifice fly. Holt brought a run him with an RBI single. Woodson then got his first RBI of the season with his own single.
After a leadoff single by Harrah in the top of the ninth, Jim Strickland replaced Woodson and promptly gave up a 2-run homer to Nelson. But it was too little too late for the Rangers.
Final score: Minnesota 7 Texas 2.
