i think the problem is the expectation to get top-tier talent for a guy who pitchest 60-80ip per year.
i've seen the ai pay for a high-end closer, not often though.
also, don't htink it's 'realistic' because of consensus in the forums. not one person has ever done what's needed in order to have an opinion that amounts to more than a stab in the dark. have to consider how the components were thought of when traded, not resulting careers to compare apples to apples. if there's a repository of data, no problem.. otehrwise no one has done this to give an educated opinion -- from teh peanut gallery.
