Harrah got his 100th hit of the season in the top of the first. Burroughs came up with an RBI single as did Biittner as the Rangers put a pair on the board in the first inning.

Egan put the White Sox on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

Brober was called for a balk in the bottom of the third and that scored Kelly from third to tie the game. Andrews then gave the White Sox the lead when he scored on a Broberg wild pitch. Also in the third, Allen got his 10th stolen base of the season and he went on to score on an error by Lovitto. The White Sox would then load the bases with two out and add another un on a Nelson throwing error before Lemonds struck out in his second at bat of the inning to finally end the disaster of an inning for the Rangers.

After three: Chicago 5 Texas 2.

In the fourth inning, the White Sox loaded the bases with nobody out. Melton then hit a sac fly for his 50th RBI of the season. Williams added a 2 run double.

Lemonds injured his hand in the top of the fifth with a runner at second and one out and was replaced by Denny O'Toole.

Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the fifth.

After six: Chicago 8 Texas 2.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the seventh.

In the bottom of the eighth, Chicago again loaded the bases with nobody out. a 6-4-3 scored a run. Allen then added an RBI single. The White Sox went on to load the bases again, this time with two outs. Williams added an RBI single. Lovitto threw out a runner trying to score from second on the play but injured his hand and had to leave the game.

Cy Acosta pitched the ninth inning for the White Sox.

Final score: Chicago 11 Texas 2.
