I have a college league that has 72 teams, with the following breakdown:
2 sub leagues
3 divisions per sub league
12 teams per sub league
Since this is a college league, we wouldn't want any conflicts with players' academics.
So this league will only play on Saturdays & Sundays. The schedule should break down like this:
-Double-header on Saturday against one team
-Double-header on Sunday against a separate team
-First game of a doubleheader can start any time between 12:05 and 2:05 PM
-Second game of a doubleheader can start any time between 6:35 PM and 7:35 PM
Games will be allocated thusly:
-1 double-header at home & 1 double-header on the road against each divisional team
-6 home double-headers & 6 away double-headers scattered among non-division teams in the same sub league
*All Star Game & All Star Break: after teams have played 52 games, the entire league will take week #14 off to allow for an All Star game on that Saturday. Play will resume the weekend after.
All in all, the regular season should span 18 weekends.
