2016 World Cup
The International Baseball Federation gathered today to announce the first inaugural IBF World Cup! As a testament to their success and growth,
Mexico will be the first host for the 2016 tournament, to be played in March in Mexico City and Monterrey. The tournament this year will consist of 7 nations competing for what the IBF is considered as the ultimate prize: the World Cup.
The World Cup will have two phases, similar to previous tournaments. The first phase will consist of the teams ranked 4-7, in a 3 game round robin. The winner of that group will advance to the main draw with Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
The below are the groups, with Group A representing the initial qualifying phase:
