This is all about the White Sox and they are clearly the better team.
Gogolewski struck out the side in the first after giving up a lead off single, bringing his K total on the season to 42.
Wilbur Wood struck out the side in the third after giving up two hits.
After three: Chicago 0 Texas 0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Maddox was thrown out at home trying to score from second base on a Dave Nelson single. However, the next batter, Burroughs came through with a 2 run single.
In the bottom of the sixth, Vic Harris got a pinch hit RBI double.
After six: Texas 3 Chicago 0.
This brought Paul Lindblad in to pitch as Gogolewski left after shutting the White Sox out for six innings. And Lindblad immediately lost the shutout and the lead as the Rangers committed two errors and the White Sox scored four runs before Lindblad was pulled for Mike Paul, all in the seventh inning alone.
The Rangers would take advantage of a Chicago error to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Horacio Pina was brought in to pitch the eighth and the White Sox scored a pair to get the lead back. Casey Cox was brought in to finish the inning and two more crossed the plate, all charged to Pina, before the inning was over.
Chicago continued to brutalize the Rangers bullpen as they added a run against Cox in the ninth.
The Rangers loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth and then Tom Grieve brought in a pair with a pinch hit single. The Rangers scored one more run on a wild pitch before Hal King struck out to end the game.
Final score: Chicago 9 Texas 7.
