PK is a polarizing figure. Montreal fans loved him but his bright light may have bothered powerful people in one of the greatest franchises in sport. Separately hockey is still a collectivist environment often suppressing individuality with justification as talent does not always win at the highest level.

I'm always suspicious of this stuff. We see it in all sports where a sub-group of participants ie players, former players, media and fans become self-appointed "guardians" of the game and feel entitled to set rules for others who may not share their views.

Where were those people when Tiger Williams was riding his stick down the ice 30+ years ago.

Let me correct the record. Just listening to John Scott. Apparently this quote is 2 years old and was made after a game. That certainly changes the context. To his credit Scott is not backing down but quite correctly he is objecting to the quote being represented as current.
