Complete Premier League Coverage weeks 5 and 6
Drillers shoot up the leaderboard
The big winners this week are the Reidi Drillers, moving from 8th to 2nd in just two weeks. This jump comes off the back of a 7-1 run in the past two weeks. The Drillers swept the Ersia Elephants before taking 3 of 4 from the Luminere Reds. Both of those teams are near the bottom of the pack, so the question remains if the Drillers can keep up the hot streak as they will face a bit tougher competition in the coming weeks.
Miners stay atop the leaderboard
Despite the hot challenge from the Drillers, the Promethea Miners are still two clear of the field thanks to their own 7-1 record in the last two weeks. The Miners swept the Queenstown Wave, and piled it on to the Elephants by winning 3 of 4 in that series.
Pitcher of the Month
Hadrian United’s Cameron Teall has been awarded with the first pitcher of the month award in the Premier League. Teall went 3-0 in April with a 1.86 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
Hitter of the Month
Nate Lorenzo, 1st baseman for the Queenstown Wave, is your hitter of the month for April. Lorenzo hit .314 with 7 homers. He also compiled a .462 on-base percentage.
Relegation Watch
If the season were to end today, the Ersia Elephants and Luminere Reds would be packing their bags and heading down to the Challenger League. There are three teams that are two games clear of that line. The Elephants have had an abysmal two weeks, going just 1-7. They were, however, facing the two top teams in the league. They’re hoping they can turn it around against some of the rest of the league.
Matchup of the Week results
Last time, we highlighted the C-bucs and Bulls as our key matchup for the week. The teams wound up splitting the series, each winning one at home and one on the road.
This week’s matchup of the week
The 3rd place Kobol College Twins will meet up with the 6th place Itar Aces. Both teams are within striking distance of the top of the table, and a big series win will go a long way in bolstering their post season chances.
