The Expos have announced a trade. Montreal sends SS Vladik Aleev and CF Justin Johnson to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for RHP Chris Muckenfuss and CF Chris Whitman. The 27 year old Aleev was hitting .310 with 0 HRs and 20 RBIs in 55 AAA games for the Expos. The 20 year old Johnson was hitting .172 with 0 HRs and 7 RBIs in 37 A games for Montreal. The 24 year old Muckenfuss was 2-3 with 12 saves, a 2.51 ERA in 25 AA appearances for the Royals. The 21 year old Whitman was hitting .158 with 0 HRs and 7 RBIS in 43 A games for Kansas City.

Montreal announces another trade today, the Expos will send C Manny Baca to the St Louis Cardinals in exchange for RHP Gavin Watkins. The 30 year old Baca was hitting .229 with 1 HR and 10 RBIs in 25 AAA games with Montreal. The 36 year old Watkins is 2-4 with 4 saves, a 4.82 ERA in 36 appearances with the Cardinals.

To make room on the roster for MR Gavin Watkins, the Expos demoted MR Danny Lopez back to AAA Seattle.
