In R, I made a list of possible duplicated Negro League players, with entries in the minor league database, where if you took the firstname-lastname it would match up with a nickname-lastname of another player, having the same debut and final year.
Some cases are judgement calls. For example, there is a Luis Arango (nickname Pedro) and a Pedro Arango who both played for 14 years on the same teams, but had wildly different heights and weights and different stats. I found Luis Arango on the b-r minor league site, Pedro Arango on the seamheads site. Maybe they were brothers who just followed each other around? Others, like a separate Bert "Nate" Hunter and a Nate Hunter, are obvious duplicates as they had identical stats.
If you have any questions let me know.
