Ilunga Makabu hoped to have an easy tune up prior to a bigger fight later this year but 1 brutal punch (a right hook) from Micki Nielsen ended those plans @ 2:23 of the 8th.

Makabu was making the 8th defense of his WBO CW belt & led 69-64 on all 3 cards as well as 169 (41%) to 131 (24%) in punches landed.

Makabu is now 9-1-1.
