Now when it came time to award the Top NL Manager honors, we all knew who it would be - the SF Giants Pilot?!? Who had a 92-70 clip and lost their WC game?

What happened to Matheny? Seems like a retiring manager should still be remembered when the awards roll around, it's like he was erased from consideration because he hung em up

BTW this was in 2017.
There's something that happens when a player or manager retires because I've definitely seen it when players retire. I remember in previous iterations of OOTP having to unretire retired players in order to give them awards, and then retire them again when the next preseason came around so that the award would stick in the history index. If I didn't do that, I'd get a blank spot for the rest of time next to whatever the award was in the history index. Bit of a PITA and an immersion killer if you ask me, but it may be all the game can handle for all a non-programmer type like me knows.
