Bentall Dominates in 10-3 Win over MarVa Conference All-Stars
Bentall Dominates in 10-3 Win over MarVa Conference All-Stars:
Stephen Bentall said the annual all-star game is mostly for the fans to enjoy, but the players have a lot of fun, too.
"It's a great time to get that much talent on one ball diamond," he said. "You feel fortunate to even be part of it."
Bentall wasn't just a part of the game, he was named the game MVP, as his Delaware Conference All-Stars won 10-3 over the MarVa Conference All-Stars.
Bentall went 3 for 5 in the game to earn the nod as the game's best.
Lifetime Bentall is hitting .295 and has totaled 176 home runs.
The Delaware Conference now leads the all-time series 17-7
------
The MarVa Conference took the lead in the 2nd scoring 2 times against one of the games all-time best pitchers Ricardo Gonazalez. The Delaware Conference answered back with 3 against Bob Davis, last years Golden Arm winner in the MC. The DC pitching picked it up and didn't allow a hit until Edward Hill allowed a hit in he 7th... The DC Conference would add 2 in the 5th, 3 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th. The big blows where 3-run HR by Marvin Garrett, in the 3rd, and a 3-run blast by Stephen Bentall, in the 7th.
This is the first All-Star in DBL history to see a team score in double-digits.
------
Matt Douglas had a day to remember as an all-star, going 3 for 5 with a double and scoring 3 times. Douglas and Bentall each had 3 hits to lead the DC Conference. Douglas played the full-game in CF, keeping Phil Davis, the other CF on the bench.
I just realized I missed Jorge Matos was also on the All-Star team. How'd I miss that? Matos pitched 1 inning striking out two. He threw 9 pitches, 7 strikes.
