Puritan, I feel your pain. I'm in my 5th year w/ fictional SD and my 1st 4 year results are:
year 1: Lost in WS
2: lost in WS
3: lost in 1st rnd
4: lost in 2nd rnd
I won 89 (wildcard) in yr 1, and had the best record in the majors the following 3 years with 104, 111, and 116 wins. I've had cy youngs, MVPs, many slick fielders, best minors, you name it. I've had the best staff, and been in the top 5 in batting every year. If I come up with anything I'll let you know.
Hmmm, how important is "clutch performer"?

On February 28, 1991, Don Mattingly was named the tenth captain in team history. He was an All-Star 6 times. He won nine Gold Glove awards from 1982-1995. He was AL batting champ in 1984 and MVP in 1985.
